Inside Out Ep.46: Creative Generosity

Inside Out Ep.46: Creative Generosity

Even as we’re tightening our belts and scrambling for gifts this Christmas, author, editor, and speaker Kristen Wetherell joins me to talk about creative ways to be generous this season.

“I think one of the ways that we can give in a creative and kind of unconventional manner that’s still deeply, deeply biblical is the gift of our time,” she says, pointing out that it’s always been true that how we invest our time reveals our priorities.

But generosity with our time is only one of the ways Wetherell suggests we can be creative with our generosity. We can also exercise generosity through the way we serve, the way we apply ourselves to work, and the way we share possessions.

One of the possessions we might not think of immediately is the gift God has given us of words. One of His great gifts to us is His Word–the Bible. In an often lonely and unkind world, Wetherell suggests we can be generous with our words, as well.

“Encouragement and affirmation mean so much, so can you write to someone this Christmas? It doesn’t have to be elaborate, but can you encourage them with your words?”

She adds, “I even think about the use of social media in our day and age, and how words are slung around and misused. Can we build up, rather than tearing down this Christmas? Can we give the gift of good, excellent, true, and praise-worthy words?
