Christians have the best reasons to hope, but we don’t always feel hopeful.
“People find the pandemic a mystery,” says author Jack Countryman. “It’s a scary time. We see that thousands of people are dying and you wonder whether or not you’re going to be next.”
Countryman is the author of 35 books, including the God’s Promises series of devotionals. His newest devotional, The Power of Hope, points out that God’s people faced situations throughout history that could make them feel anxious or hopeless.
“We’re all human and we have human emotions,” he reminds us. “And therefore, as we find ourselves going through difficult times, we need to turn to the Lord, first, not last.”
God welcomes our very human concerns. He has a history of welcoming His peoples’ concerns and standing by those who turn to Him.
“When you discover all the people in the Bible that God has chosen to bless, you cannot help but be encouraged,” he says.
