It’s something we don’t like to talk about. It’s something we don’t even like to think about. But the reality is 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys experience some sort of child sexual abuse. It’s usually perpetrated by someone the child knows. Those are the stats from the CDC. Those numbers are likely under-reported, because often times abuse is kept secret.
Faith Ingraham has lived with that secret most of her life. She grew up in the church, as a pastor’s kid and was repeatedly abused by her father. Her mother became aware of the abuse. But it remained in the dark for the rest of the family, and for the church. Now, Faith and her husband, Dale teach churches how to respond biblically. Their “Breaking the Silence” seminar is coming up February 11th at Grace Community Church in Painted Post, NY. You can find out more here.
