Real Answers – the process of “Adulting”

It is a varied range of family situations which has young adults reliant on their parents. In some cases, 20-somethings living in their “growing up” home with their parents is a practical reality or a financial necessity. In some cases, the trendy phrase “failure to launch” applies.

Christian counselor Chris Anderson explore the process called “Adulting” in this edition of Family Life’s “Real Answers” interview. He believes one key to why so many young adults aren’t entering fully into adulthood is an emphasis on “feelings and emotions,” a common trend in this generation and in the wider culture. Senses of entitlement and constant readily-available entertainment also can limit some 20-somethings in their discovery of their true potential.

Listen to this podcast for Anderson’s analysis, advice and recommendations.

Campus Ministry – Positive Impact for Today’s Young Adults – 2/22/24

Campus Ministry – Positive Impact for Today’s Young Adults – 2/22/24

Christian outreach and support for today’s young adults has transformed — yet again.

The unique needs and perspectives of this generation of college students has shaped how campus ministries are doing their work. Today on Family Life, we hear from Mike Andrews, Impact Ministry’s campus pastor at Penn State Altoona.

Andrews tells us about how the most significant impact which meets students where their lives are is primarily in small groups and Bible studies. Even for young people who have never had experiences in a church — or who have wandered away from an earlier faith — he says a hallmark of this generation is an openness to talk about deep core values and to explore spiritual issues.

Greg Gillispie also asks Andrews to give guidance to local church leaders on effective ways to shape youth ministries and to encourage the children of the church to plug into campus ministries if they go away to school.

Real Answers – How singles can find the “right one” – 11/22/23

Real Answers – How singles can find the “right one” – 11/22/23

Real Answers” tackles the tough topics which Christians face in their lives.

On this edition,a focus on singles — certainly those who are younger, but applicable to any age.

Licensed professional counselor Christopher Anderson talks about how to find “The Right One” as a life mate, if you have an eventual call to be married. He talks about how before you get to know the other person, you become better able to know your dating or relationship partners if you first begin with a deep understanding of yourself. Only then do you have a foundation on which to build a long-lasting relationship. He also suggests good mentoring with a long-married Christian couple, and double-dating with people who share your faith and worldview.

Anderson also explores research on how many unmarried couples live together, outside of a marriage commitment. That number has grown exponentially across the past two generations, but (perhaps surprisingly) those percentages are not as high as some Christian might expect, looking at the society around us. You also will hear how cohabitation actually reduces the likelihood that a relationship — or a marriage, if you eventually decide to wed — which succeed long term.
