● A whale swallowed Jonah.
● This too shall pass.
● There is only one way to get to Heaven.
Do you know what’s true and what isn’t?
This week, Terese digs into the Bible, and into some popular sayings to find the truth.

22 Terese Talk: I Am In Control

22 Terese Talk: I Am In Control

This week we celebrated “I Am In Control Day.” But are you? And are you supposed to be? The times we are in might be leaving you feeling a little uncertain—maybe worried. In the past year, you might have tried to take control of your health—your finances—your kids’ schooling—your emotional well-being. But have you really been in control? No way! This has been the most out of control year any of us have experienced. We can’t control things like how a virus spreads, or how that impacts the economy. We can’t control what the school district decides to do with hybrid or in-person learning. And we can’t control how much toilet paper is on the shelf of the grocery store. But in all of those circumstances, we can control one thing: us. And how we react to it all. Take just a few minute and hear more of what Terese has to say about control.

20 Terese Talk: Forgiveness

20 Terese Talk: Forgiveness

When someone wrongs you, it might seem inconceivable to offer then forgiveness. But when you forgive, it really benefits you as much as your offender. In her book, “Forgiving What You Can’t Forget,” Lysa TerKeurst points readers to Jesus as the source of all the forgiveness we could ever need. Listen as Terese shares her thoughts from the book and her experience leading a small group study of it.

For more on the book, listen to Terese’s interview with Lysa in Episode 9.

19 Terese Talk: Am I Depressed?

19 Terese Talk: Am I Depressed?

Have you noticed you’re not interested in the things you used to be? We’ve had a lot of change over the past year. And for the most part, we’ve gone with the flow. Except, when we don’t. You may have noticed you don’t care about things you used too–like taking a shower. Have you wondered if you’re depressed? Did you know that not every bought of depression requires professional help—sometimes the feelings just come and go. Listen as Terese talks to Family Life Biblical Counselor Barb Short to help us discern—and to give advice on how to keep yourself mentally healthy.

If you would like to speak to one of our counselors, call 800-927-9083. This isn’t the first time we’ve talked about mental health on this podcast. In Episode 12, I gave some tips on getting through the winter blues. And in Episode 6, Healing Journey Founder, Cyndy Sherwood gave some great advice on finding peace in the middle of life’s storms.

16 Terese Talk: That Sounds Fun

16 Terese Talk: That Sounds Fun

Hi. It’s Terese. Normally this is where we put all the fancy-sounding podcasting stuff about what’s coming up on this episode. TBH, this episode terrified me. I heard Annie F. Downs speak a few years ago and instantly fell in love. Like in a “I-wanna-be-your-best-friend-but-not-in-a-creepy-stalker” kinda way. Her books are fun to read and draw you right into her ginormous, joy-filled personality. So, interviewing her, was kinda scary for me. But, of course, she is amazing and all I could have imagined. I think it turned out pretty great. And if Annie F. Downs and I ever end up in the same room, I MIGHT just have the courage to wave and say “Hey, you!”

Here‘s where you can find out more about her.

And here’s the link to buy the book we talk about on this episode.
