Special Feature – Fentanyl & Opioids – Dr. David Streem – 02/13/23

The fentanyl crisis.

A shocking statistic: Enough fentanyl was seized by law enforcement in 2022 to kill every American, of every age.

That is 50 million pills, plus 10 thousand pounds of Fentanyl powder. The DEA says that is over 379 million potentially deadly doses.

And that is only what law enforcement was able to confiscate.

The hundreds of thousands of deaths from the synthetic and illegal Fentanyl, plus hundreds of thousands more who became addicted to other (legal) opioid painkillers, this crisis calls out for a cure.

David Streem is medical director for Cleveland Clinic’s alcohol and drug treatment center. He tells Family Life, in addition to the toll this epidemic has on victims, families, and law enforcement, the opioid crisis takes a toll on the medical community.
